Mama Bird

Last spring, my husband and I moved to our new home. To my joy, I discovered a bird’s nest in a small tree that keeps our second bedroom fairly shaded. Below is a picture of one of the 4 baby birds, a few days after birth. Love the mohawk.

Shortly after the baby birds were gone, I did some yard work and in my cleaning, I took out the nest and threw it away. (It was empty for some time and I knew they wouldn’t come back…I hoped!)

I’m so glad Mama and Papa Bird decided that this year, it was still okay to make their nest in the same exact spot, in the same exact tree. That is awesome! She is so protective and I’m sure is just anxiously awaiting the arrival of her sweet darlings any day now.

This was the best (and only!) picture I could take before she flew off, scared. Isn’t she absolutely darling? New life is so amazing.

Happy weekend.

Oh my goodness! What beautiful photos! That first one is amazing! I can't believe you were able to get so close. We had some baby birds in a nest right by the front door of our rental rehab, and they finally flew away a couple days ago. I'm scared to remove the nest because I want to make sure they're not going to come back. Thanks so much for sharing!
