Strawberry Milkshake

Can I just say, dreaming up this milkshake was the best idea I’ve had yet this summer. Yesterday, the temperatures topped out at 96ºF with 89% humidity. It goes without saying that it felt way hotter than 96ºF. Thank God for central air!

Moving right along, this milkshake is certainly not your typical shake. In my mind, this recipe started out as a smoothie. Quickly, I realized after adding the whipped topping that this was headed in a different direction. Sometimes that can be a good thing!
Why is this milkshake perfect? Unlike your average shake, it doesn’t leave you with that sick-in-the-stomach feeling because you just had too much sugar and milk.  Know what I mean? I’m sure you will after you make this shake.

Strawberry Milkshake

  • Servings: 1

An original recipe

Ingredients
1 cup skim milk
1 cup frozen strawberries (about 8-10)
1 tbsp ground flax seed meal
1/3 cup light whipped topping
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp sugar or agave
Optional: chopped pecans

Directions
1. In a blender, add milk and frozen strawberries. Pulse until combined.
2. Add remaining ingredients and blend on high until mixed. You might need to stop the blender and stir with a spoon if it gets too thick. Please, make sure your blender is OFF!
3. Garnish with chopped pecans and enjoy!

    Mmmmmmm….I could slurp that down in 10 seconds flat! It looks wonderful…especially with the chopped pecans on top! I love that it has flax seeds in it…and that it's a fairly healthy shake that's low in sugar. I don't usually have whipped topping though, but I might try making it with coconut creamer instead and see how it turns out. 🙂 I'm bookmarking this and will give it a try these days. 🙂
