Running is one of the rare times where I can pray uninterrupted. Between being a wife, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, and taking care of a baby it can be hard for me to take a nice chunk of time and dedicate it to praying. There seem to always be so many things to pray for and not enough time. Sure, I certainly use quiet moments throughout the day to say a prayer but when it comes to 20, 30 or more minutes of praying, running is the only way I can do that.
That sunset picture up there always reminds me of how God is ever present in every aspect of our lives. Our Creator who paints the skies with unbelievable beauty, is the same God who listens to us pray, no matter when or where we chose to do it. When I chose running as my sport many years ago, it became one of my favorite ways to pray. Most of the time, I was running alone so it was the perfect time to pray aloud (or not) and also experience God’s presence.
Knowing that I can have prayer time while I run is one of the reasons why I keep making running a part of my life.
