this is why i run: sunrise & sunset // day 21

When I run early in the morning or late in the evening, I feel like I am experiencing the two most beautiful moments of the day.
There is something to be said about hearing the birds chirping as they wake up and seeing the dark night slowly lighten into day. I haven’t always been a morning person but running has been one of the best motivators to get out of bed early. When I make the effort to go running as the sun slowly makes its’ way up the horizon, I never once regret it.
By the same token, running when the daylight is slowly fading into the dusky night is just as motivating. Some of my favorite runs have been as the sun is slipping away, the quiet night just around the corner. Getting to experience a sunset while running is just another bonus of this sport I chose to call mine.

This is why I run.

As someone who loves sleeping I never thought I would be one of those crazy running people up at 5:30 to grab a quick run before the day starts. I love watching the sun creep up over the fields and burn away the morning mist.
