Y’all know how passionate I am about exercise, right? On occasion, I’ll be sharing these fitness posts for a few reasons. One, because I like sharing about things I love. Two, to give me another layer of accountability. What these posts are not about is suggesting that my way is the only way to incorporate fitness, because we all know fitness looks different for everyone. That being said, I hope you enjoy this new feature and as always I love hearing from you in the comments section!
Last time I checked in, was just after Memorial Day. You can read more about that here. For the month of May, my running average was 41 miles. Woohoo! June I logged in less miles than average, coming in only at 27. This is probably where I should probably explain why. (Although, it’s no excuse!)
I was doing Pilates five to six days a week – that’s it! It’s quite interesting because I had these ambitions of getting my daily runs in plus doing Pilates every single day. While we were on vacation, I was even hoping to log a few runs on the beach but it didn’t happen either. What’s past is past and now I just have to continue moving forward.
I’ve felt my running stamina dwindle some and am a bit disappointed with myself. It is no where near where it was and typically, summer is not an ideal time to test it. At least, not for me. Regardless, June wasn’t the month of running for me at all but there is always a silver lining. That silver lining has been Pilates. I am so much stronger now than I was back in May, thanks to being consistent with a near-daily practice.
Here is my plan for the rest of July:
Mondays: 3-3.5 mi run / Pilates
Tuesdays: 2-3 mi run / Pilates
Wednesdays: 3-3.5 mi run / Pilates
Thursdays: 2-3 mi run / Pilates
Saturdays: Long run
Let me talk about the elusive long run for a minute. It has not been going as planned. Ironically, now that our toddler is sleeping (mostly) a 12 hour stretch at night and I’m not nursing him, I have zero excuses for not waking up on Saturday mornings and getting in a good run. Somehow, the bed always beckons. Tell me I’m not alone?
If there is one goal this month for me to accomplish, it is to get in long runs (even if they are not much longer than my usual runs) D O N E every week. I’m 100% preaching to myself here and hope that next time I write about it, there have been some tangible changes.
