I’m always snacking. In fact, I most definitely could live off of snacking throughout the day rather than having 2 or 3 meals. Snacking is my jam. Since I’m always looking out for new ways to expand my snacking game and still keep things healthy, I was super excited when Madison reached out to me about sampling some FlyJoy quinoa bars. After spending a week sampling all their different flavors, I have to say that it was really hard to pick a favorite!
First, let’s talk about the texture. I have fond memories of taking road trips as a child and snacking on Power Bars along the way. One thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the texture of those bars. Does anyone else remember how super sticky and hard to chew they were? I also remember they made me feel really thirsty afterwards. The texture of FlyJoy bars is nothing like that. They are just soft enough there’s no sticking your teeth together but not so soft that they fall apart in your hand either. I’d say the texture is the perfect blend between creamy and firm. They also don’t leave a funny taste or feeling in your mouth.
Second, let’s talk about flavor. With names like Peanut Cacao Nib and Cherry Coconut (those were my top favorites!), you can expect exactly that. There’s no fake peanut butter or fake cherry taste. This is the real deal, including actual cacao nib bits and dried tart cherries in the bars. My husband was skeptical about the ‘quinoa’ part of the bars, which I assured him tasted nothing like the quinoa dishes we frequently have for dinner. It didn’t take much convincing, once he finally tried a bar and he admitted they were tasty. So, there you have it – flavor isn’t compromised in these bars even with superfoods like quinoa, chia seeds, flax and oats.
The most important part for me of a snack is nutrition value. When I say I snack a lot, I mean a lot. I want to ensure that I’m fueling my body as mindfully and healthily as possible, so any added sugars or bad fats/carbs in my eating just don’t make the cut. I also want to make sure it’s filling enough, so I don’t have to eat 5 of them to hold me over until the next meal. FlyJoy bars are clean. There’s really no better word to describe them. They’re all natural, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, and kosher certified. If you look at the ingredient label, you can see there are no chemicals or weird names you can’t pronounce. I had one bar for breakfast a few mornings and it kept me satisfied until about 3 hours later when I had food again. That is so good for this hungry momma.
Finally, one thing I really love about the FlyJoy company is the fact that they give back. A portion of their profits go to HOPE International, a non-profit Christian microfinance organization that helps people around the world escape poverty. I love knowing that part of the money we are investing in good-for-us food, is going to help others’ in need.
And now for the G I V E A W A Y!
