my new fitness routine

I really want to take a nap right now since both kids are sleeping, but there is so much to do. Time for a nap, said no mom ever. So here I am, writing a blog post procrastinating on the other more important things to do.

Over this past weekend, I got to thinking about my totally new-ish workout routine since having our second child and realized I hadn’t written or even mentioned fitness since before she was born. (Here’s the link if you’re interested.)

Now that I’m approaching 5 months into this having two kids gig, I have a somewhat good exercise routine established and thought I would share how things are different and any things that are still the same as before. Indulge me? If not, I won’t be offended if you choose to skip this post.

For Two Fitness Mother’s Week Giveaway

Hey y’all! Did any of you momma’s get spoiled for Mother’s Day yesterday or over the weekend? My day was low key, filled with the usual exciting stuff like laundry but I was able to sleep in until almost 8am so that alone pretty much made my day. *praise hands*

35 weeks: bebé dos

Here we are, facing the last few miles of the marathon that is pregnancy. I love a good running metaphor and told my husband the other day that though I’m on mile 21 of this marathon, some days it feels like I’ve only just began the race.

Such is the life of being pregnant with a toddler hanging around. Who told this kid he could ask me to pick him up 37 times a day? I joke (lovingly) but seriously, he weighs a lot and this momma needs to dust off and start using her 5 lb. dumbbells more often.

For Two Fitness + a giveaway!

Did anyone notice a nifty little addition on my sidebar recently? Probably not and that’s okay. Let me tell you all about it! If you didn’t already know, in the past 20 months I’ve had one baby and have another one on the way, due in 10-ish weeks. That’s basically a lot of time spent actually being pregnant. Crazy fun trivia fact: I’ve been pregnant more months combined (18 and counting) the past 2+ years than I have been not pregnant.

One thing that I noticed during my first pregnancy, was the lack of fitness apparel that existed for pregnant women. Sure, there were plenty of maternity yoga pants and casual loungewear items that could possibly pass for workout gear at the gym. My problem was finding stuff that actually would withstand lots of sweating and basically, feel like my normal running clothes but with more “give” in the belly area. Make sense? Since I took a more low-key approach the first time around, I sort of forgot about my quest for maternity running & workout clothes and made do with my old stuff.

This time around, taking the same approach just wasn’t an option. The old stuff (aka pre-pregnancy running gear) stopped fitting me before I was even at the halfway point of this pregnancy. No one wants to see all that and more, hanging out so I bought a few maternity specific things and they have been lifesavers. Early on when things started looking bleak, I made a vow to at some point buy some of these cute tops but have yet to actually click the “buy” button. Ten weeks out and it’s not too late in the game, right?

I appreciate that For Two Fitness cares about using high performance fabrics for their apparel, just like the stuff you would buy at other typical fitness retailers. It doesn’t hurt that the designs and colors are super cute! This is definitely a company I would recommend to fellow pregnant moms looking to add fitness apparel to their wardrobes.
